At the third annual Tax Payers March organized by Libek more than a hundred participants voiced their dissatisfaction due to high labor taxes. The group gathered at park “Manjez”, where it had been said that citizens will not remain silent about current high tax rates, and that a decrease is actually viable.
Nikola Parun from Libek said that the event was organized for all those who suffer under high taxes and all those who could not find employment: “Libek is the voice of anyone harmed by taxation and believes that free and wealthy society is attainable”.
In front of Ministry of Finance Milos Nikolic, the president of Libek, stated that citizens will not allow their great effort to be taken as an excuse for irresponsibility of the government. “Every high labor taxation brings new unemployment. It should be taken as an insult for your effort”, Nikolic said.
Participants were carrying a huge sack which symbolized labor taxes (39% in Serbia). After Nikolic addressed the citizens, the assembled left the sack in front of the Ministry with the message that the fighting should continue inside the institutions. “Our proposal shows that anyone who is able to hire people could always hire more. It proves that the black labor market can be transformed into legal frames. It is possible to improve and revive weakened economy in Serbia.” concluded Nikolic.
Members of the Employers Union, numerous entrepreneurs and Startup Alliance representatives were at the assembly, showing support alongside the members of the movement “Dosta je bilo”, Liberal Democratic party and the New party.
Libek will continue lobbying for lower labor taxes and putting pressure on decision makers to work on development of private sector.
